From erstwhile around 28 breweries the Mendig brewery is the only one remaining. The Vulkanbrauerei (Volcano brewery) is the only brewery still brewing to old traditional recipe top fermented beer. Visitors can test the volcano brew in the “Brauhaus" and at the same time enjoy food out of the brewery kitchen.

The vaults beneath the brewery are no longer used to store the beer and can be viewed.
