The Ettringer Lay is a unique monument to the modern stone industry. Cranes, crane pedestals, tracks and remnants of old buildings bear witness to the intensity of the excavation activity in the 19th and 20th centuries. A circular route with information boards guides the visitor down into the quarry, to the impressive 40 meter high “big wall” of basalt lava. In good weather the “big wall” is a popular climbing wall for the Alpine club.
